Desert Water Source Project
Two water source projects are scheduled to be completed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 29, 30, and May 1 southeast of Glamis.
DWU always needs workers to help. If you are interested in assisting on these projects please call Leon Lesicka at (760) 344-2793.
To have a map faxed or emailed to you, in PDF format, send an email with your name to DesertWildlife@aol.com .
Camping at the site is OK. If you plan to stay over on Thursday and Friday nights, you will need to camp out and bring food and snacks. Dinner Friday evening and lunch on Saturday will be provided. Four wheel drive required for one project. Two wheel drive OK for the other project and the campsite.
Remember, if you participate in a work party you will need plenty of water and ice (at least five gallons per person per day), a wide brimmed hat, sun screen, and a pair of work gloves. If you plan on spending the night you will also need your camping gear.

DWU installed four new drinkers last year and performed maintenance on many others including hauling water to those that had not received any rain to be sure they contain water.
The desert deer continue to be in excellent condition and there seems to be a much larger population due to the generous rainfall in the past few years.
Abundant rain and the 120 plus watering facilities installed by DWU since the group was founded have played a large part in allowing our desert deer herd to increase in size.
